Lawrence P. Powers Presents Engineering Ethics Course for ASHE North-Central New Jersey Section
On February 8th, Lawrence P. Powers presented a two-hour Engineering Ethics course on behalf of the ASHE North-Central New Jersey Section. This presentation encompassed New Jersey, Pennsylvania and New York Code of Ethics and corollary state administrative code provisions, including why they exist and how they were developed. During his presentation, Larry also covered how violations of ethical rules are commonly dealt with by engineering societies and State Boards and how unethical practice can affect public health, safety and welfare and lead to professional liability, legal and licensure issues.
Larry is the Co-Chair of Hoagland Longo’s Construction Litigation Department and has served as General Counsel to AIA-New Jersey, the New Jersey Society of Professional Engineers and NJASLA for over twenty years. Larry has also been recognized as the 2018 “Lawyer of the Year” in the Construction Litigation category by Best Lawyers for the Woodbridge, NJ Metropolitan area, and is noted for his experience as a construction arbitrator and mediator.
